ANNIE
Ana María Reyes, also affectionately known as Annie, is an artist with a vibrant Cuban/Venezuelan heritage that fuels an unmatched passion for painting. From crafting posters for school classrooms in her childhood to pursuing Graphic Design in Caracas, Venezuela, Annie’s artistic journey has been a testament to her unwavering commitment to creativity.
Despite the challenges faced as an immigrant in the United States since 1999, Annie’s dedication to art remained steadfast. In 2000, she embraced the world of “Mural Art” at Miami-Dade College, painting commissioned murals while contributing to graphic design and marketing.
In 2020, amidst the forced lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Annie felt a deep calling to create once more. Using various mediums, she transformed cheeseboards into captivating pieces that brought joy to people’s faces during a time when the world yearned for positivity. This period of reflection and creativity paved the way for a significant shift in Annie’s artistic journey.
In 2023, she embraced a new digital frontier and began creating art in Procreate. This marked a transformative moment as Annie harnessed the digital capabilities of Procreate to craft intricate and delightful illustrations. Inspired by her desire to share the therapeutic and joyful experience of art, she decided to channel her passion into a new endeavor—creating coloring books for adults.
As her artistic journey unfolded, Annie achieved a significant milestone in 2024 by earning her Certification in Art Therapy. This certification added a profound layer to her creative endeavors, showcasing her commitment to the therapeutic power of art for relaxation and well-being.
Annie’s mission evolved to focus on spreading well-being through art, and her coloring books became a medium through which more people could access the tranquility and happiness embedded in her digitally crafted creations. The transition to Procreate in 2023, coupled with her Art Therapy Certification in 2024, marked a pivotal moment, further enriching her ability to connect with others and inspire them to discover their own sources of happiness and creativity.
