Are you familiar with impostor syndrome?

It’s that feeling of intellectual underestimation in your role and an irrational fear of being exposed as fraudulent due to your achievements. Many people, especially successful women, struggle with this.

Since I arrived in this country and faced the challenge of not speaking the language correctly, there have been times when I’ve felt less capable than I really am. However, thanks to the invaluable support of many extraordinary individuals, especially women, I’ve been able to build my business and career. Though grateful, I sometimes doubt if I deserve certain. Nevertheless, I’ve learned to take responsibility for my successes and to believe in myself. It’s a mindset shift from “These people helped me, so I succeed” to “I am successful, and that’s why these people support me.”

Here are Some Recommendations:

  • Identify your strengths. Seek feedback from trusted colleagues, friends, and mentors. Their perspective can illuminate your unique abilities.
  • Practice self-affirmation. Speak openly about your achievements until it feels natural.
  • Embrace scrutiny; it means people are paying attention to your work.
  • Face challenges with optimism and a willingness to learn.

The Therapeutic Role of Adult Coloring Books

  • Boosting Confidence and Self-Esteem: Completing designs in a coloring book can provide a sense of achievement and satisfaction. This can be particularly empowering for someone with impostor syndrome as it helps recognize and value their capabilities and accomplishments, counteracting doubts and negative self-evaluation.
